Your amazing body is continually striving for perfect balance! It will do everything it can to maintain balance….and regain it if things get “out of whack”. Overall, your body needs to be alkaline…with a pH between 6.5 and 7.5. Unfortunately, many foods in our diets are acid-forming. Stress, toxins, and immune reactions (like trying to fight off a cold) are also acid-forming. Unless we are eating alkalinizing foods, we will remain out of balance. This plays out with fatigue, illness, and pain. Your body will literally rob your bones of alkalinizing minerals, which often leads to arthritis.
Here are some tips for developing a more alkaline diet….and a more alkaline environment within that amazing body!
*Add a cup of two of alkalinizing vegetables to your lunch and dinner. Include dark leafy green (like kale, mustard green, collard greens), sweet potatoes, cauliflower, cabbage, mushrooms, eggplant, and beets.
*Include lentils in soups and stews….and chili!! (Scoot on over to my Recipes page for a great Lentil Chili recipe 🙂 )
*Add alkalinizing grains, such as: oats, quinoa, and wild rice.
*Add the juice of 1/2 lemon or lime to 8 ounces of water and sip away. You can do this several times a day. We think of lemons and limes as being acidic, but they are alkalinizing within the body!
*Include alkalinizing fruits, such as: berries, watermelon, pineapple, mango, and avocado.
